Support Group for Siblings
What is it? Does my child need it?
These are some of the questions you may be pondering as a parent when you think about sibling support. Well, siblings may need support individually or in a group to talk about their feelings and to do activities to foster their growth. Sometimes, non-disabled siblings have feelings of anger, embarrassment; guilt and shame in regards to their sibling with Down syndrome and those feelings may not be verbalized but acted out. Individual sessions and groups are led by Terese Ghilarducci, MFT and she provides a safe, structured place for children and teens to feel as though they are not alone and that other children feel the same way sometimes. Terese normalizes the children/teens feelings but also helps them to talk to their parents in a respectful way about how they are feeling.
